CBD to combat anxiety

What is anxiety?
Feeling anxious or stressed is quite normal when approaching an exam (driving licence, diploma, etc.) or when you have to speak in public, stress can push you and help you excel. But anxiety can be so severe that it prevents you from performing well and can cause you to fail an exam or mess up a presentation that you had mastered perfectly! It is infuriating to fail because stress has overwhelmed you. Taking CBD can help you to tackle important events in your life with more serenity for better success.
Anxiety can also ruin your daily life. This is a pathological condition, associated with aggression or difficult living or working conditions, called chronic anxiety. If you turn to conventional medicine to treat this anxiety, you are likely to be prescribed anti-anxiety drugs with side effects that are difficult to endure. This is why an increasing number of chronic anxiety sufferers are turning to CBD, which has no side effects, as a supplement to their treatment.
CBD to combat anxiety
Numerous studies have demonstrated the beneficial action of cannabinoids against anxiety. In 2011, the Neurobiology journal published a study in which two groups of people suffering from social anxiety were asked to deliver a speech in public. The first group was given CBD, and the second was given a placebo before the test. Unsurprisingly, people who used hemp suffered less anticipatory stress and were more successful in their speech. Medical imaging tests have also shown that CBD consumption influences the limbic system in the brain, involved in emotions and memories, resulting in less anxiety.
The most promising research into the links between CBD and anxiety treatment is looking into the influence of cannabinoids on the body’s serotonin regulation. The medical world has long known that depression and anxiety are linked. Many conventional medicines influence the level of serotonin, the good mood hormone. CBD has been shown to interact with serotonin 5-HT1A receptors, which regulate stress and anxiety.
How can CBD be used to reduce anxiety?
Choosing the form and quantity of CBD to consume to combat anxiety depends both on your consumption habits, your sensitivity to cannabinoids and the desired effects. It is important to know that vaporising CBD flowers or concentrates effects the body quickly but doesn’t last as long. Therefore, this type of consumption can be beneficial if you have to deal with a sudden increase in anxiety or a stressful event. However, we do not advice that you take CBD just before an exam. It is much better to take cannabinoids the night before in order to have a peaceful and deep sleep, and to ensure you arrive in good shape and remain focused. If you prefer to consume CBD oil in food or drinks, the effects will take longer to kick in but will last longer.
